MAN-CONSTANT Exhibition

Dechko Uzunov and Atanas Yaranov
26 April 12 – 30 May 12

The title of this exhibition - "Man-constant" sets a definite idea about the extent and vision of the artists. Having in mind the breadth of themes which Atanas Yaranov and Dechko Uzunov interpreted, the titles which they used, the diversity of ideas expressed by human bodies in their paintings, created over the years - these works are "prophetical" in artist’s creativity process.
This is the diapason that would be
extended from the so called "naive" art to the so called “art spirit”, which fusion carries to the very roots of modernism and the latest passions to minimalistic and classical conceptualism.

Their connection and presence can be referred to the greatest contribution to the modern Bulgarian art in the XXth century, and namely abstraction in all its permutations from the Russian constructivism in the beginning of the century, abstract expressionism in the 1950s, to abstract minimalism in the 1970s.These paintings and creative time proved to be the seed for the artwork of both authors and inspiration to all others, including those who were amused by them. Perhaps more than anything else, this is how they deliberately concealed the figurative and abstract "human" and "inhuman." Exactly this fact has made the paintings vision so exquisite-delicate and powerful-impressive in artists’ work in the field of modern art during this period.
